How I Got Here

Engineering, enterprise software, thermal power plants, and eventually search. Not a straight line, but the technical parts turned out to matter.

• 2001

  B.Tech in Computer Science

  Graduated in Computer Science and Engineering from LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod. I had already built my first website as a college project, an early web portal written in ASP, which is where the interest in how information gets found online really started.

• 2001 to 2004

  Enterprise systems and power projects

  I worked as a SAP ABAP consultant in Bangalore, writing code inside large enterprise systems. Before and alongside that, I handled IT support and system coordination on major thermal power projects for BHEL, Damodar Valley Corporation, and Tata Power. Neither role was about marketing. Both taught me how large technical systems actually behave, which is the lens I still use on search problems.

• 2005

  The switch to search, and Brain Cyber Solutions

  I had been running a blog on the side that grew to around 10,000 daily visitors, entirely through organic search. Working out why it ranked, and why some pages did and others did not, turned into the thing I wanted to do full time. That year I moved back to Ernakulam and founded Brain Cyber Solutions.

• 2009

  International work begins

  The first clients from the US and UK came in, and the work shifted from local sites to competitive international markets. Over the years since, I have delivered more than 100 international projects, including consulting for enterprise-level organisations across banking, FMCG, marine services, ecommerce, SaaS, and professional services.

• 2014

  A fully remote company

  Brain Cyber Solutions moved to a fully remote model, working with a distributed network of more than 60 specialists. This was well before remote work became ordinary, and it let us assemble the right people for a project rather than the people who lived nearby.

• 2021

  Teaching

  I started training seriously, through Techmindz at Infopark Ernakulam, the Entri App, ICT Academy and Brain Cyber Solutions' own upskilling programmes. All sessions are conducted in Malayalam. Teaching turned out to be the fastest way to find out which parts of your own thinking hold up: a room full of people applying your advice to their own sites will find the gaps quickly.

• 2023 onward

  AI enters the picture

  Search started answering questions instead of listing links, and the work changed with it. My focus moved towards entity clarity, Answer Engine Optimization, Generative Engine Optimization, and AI workflow automation. The programming background stopped being a curiosity and became the most useful thing I had.

• 2026

  Maattam

  I founded Maattam, an AI Learning & Professional Growth Ecosystem for Malayalam speakers in Kerala, the Gulf, and the wider diaspora. AI capability has become a professional requirement rather than an advantage, and the people who most need it were being asked to learn it in a second language. Maattam exists to fix that.

I see search as an engineering problem alongside a content and user problem. That is not a slogan, it is just how the training landed: enterprise code first, power plant systems second, search third.

Away From Work

I live in Edappally with my wife Binusree and our two daughters, one of whom would rather be doing karate and the other of whom would rather be editing video. Binusree also happens to be the COO of Brain Cyber Solutions, which means work follows us home more often than either of us plans for.

I think and plan more than is strictly necessary, which is probably why the work ends up structured the way it does. Most days include a walk in Changampuzha Park and some exercise at home, and almost every night ends with a film, a habit I have kept for years. I cook when I get the chance, travel whenever there is a reason to, and have a hard time leaving other people's problems alone, which is how a fair amount of my work arrives in the first place.
